Fly Fishing Barra

Only Landed 2 from 4 hookups in a short session but that is pretty standard for Barra fishing they like to jump and throw hooks and fly fishing for them is such great fun.

Only smallish fish around the 60-70cm mark but they are growing well and will be a great challenge next season at 80cm plus on a 8wt rod like the Scott X2s with the SA Mastery Series Bass Bug Taper lines I use along with the Scientific Anglers clear intermediate and fast sinking lines.

These are great line for casting bulky flies like the Dahlbergs I use for the Barra on the surface and the bulkier and heavier subsurface flies like the DK Dancers and Keel flies.

The Barra stocks will get another boost this coming weekend when another 15,000 Barra fingerlings will be stocked into Lake Lenthalls by the Fraser Coast Fish Stocking Association.

Get a Barra on your fly it's great fun.
