I had a trip out yesterday having a look around for the charter I had booked for today with regular Hervey Bay visitor Jason to target some Golden Trevally on the flats.

I had organised to meet him at the ramp at 5.30am but with cloudy skies and the nor westers blowing at 18 knots at 5am we decided to post-pone the trip and wait for some better conditions.
He is keen to learn the when, where and how so he can take his own boat out and enjoy what Hervey Bay has to offer.

Here's some of the fish caught while I was checking things out,I didn't bring any into the boat and released all boat side to minimise stress on the fish.

Fish caught and released were taken on fly and lure
Longtail tuna, Golden Trevally on fly on the flats,Scarlet,Brassy and Golden Trevally in the deeper water on Snapbacks.

I've just purchased a new Nikon D60 SLR to get better pics of clients fish and action shots but it's very difficult fishing and using this camera at the same time!! the old Olympus 770 SW was much smaller and easier to handle while fishing and can tolerate water unlike the new one.
