The water level has been rising very slowly compared to the dams further south but any rise in a good one for the area and the fish stocks.

I managed to find a few fish for the following day and also a very big dead one that was probably caught a couple of weeks earlier and most likely spent too long out of the water for photographs and ended up dying after release.

Sadly this is part of Barra fishing when the fish are not handled correctly and are kept from their watery home for too long.

Allways have your net, camera, pliers and things like Truth Mats wet and ready if your going to measure the fish , this will minimise the time the fish is out of the water.

Try and get it all done in under 2 minutes so the fish has a real chance of survival after release and never lift the fish by it's jaws without supporting it's body weight with your other hand/arm.

The biggest fish I landed was on one of the new Lively Lures 105 Assisins that was re-released for the 20th anniversary of the company.
