Big Barramundi On Fly
Lake Monduran is situated approximately 20 km NW of the town of Gin Gin it is a large body of water with many different habitats suited to Impoundment Barramundi fishing .
This Barramundi fishery was created when the Monduran Fish Stocking Assocation was formed in 1997 and they went about their business of stocking the lake and as with all stocked impoundments this would not happen without the dedication of the members that give their time to the cause.
There are Barramundi and Australian Bass stocked by the group each year and numbers vary from year to year due to available stocks and money raised through the SIPS [Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme]
It has large areas of sunken timber forests with lay down and standing structure along with extensive weed beds on flats areas and around the edges of the lake.
The heavy timber fishing is the most challenging style of all the barramundi fishing you can do in the lake it takes good acurate casting and fast reaction time to land the beasts that live amongst it,the open bank and weed bed style is more angler friendly and the chances of landing BIG Barra is increased.
The lake can be accessed 24/7 - 365 days per year with the warmer months producing the best fishing but the fish can also be caught in good numbers during the winter months in the right conditions.
Lake Monduran has some very large Barramundi swimming it's water and can be caught on a variety of methods from Hard Bodied lures Soft Plastics and Fly Fishing.
I offer specialised guided Fly and Lure Fishing fishing on Lake Mondurans Big Barramundi using many different styles of Flies, Lures retrieve methods and locations.
There have been many captures of Big Barramundi on my boat over the past 7 years of Guided Fishing on Lake Monduran so if your keen to catch a one metre barra or bigger give it a try it's a wonderful place to spend a day or two.
