The following letter is from Tim Mulherin regarding aquaculture in the Great Sandy Strait Marine Park or Great Smoke and Mirrors Park as it is known locally.
They are proposing taking more of the park off recreational anglers and fishing guides like myself that practice Sustainable fishing methods and giving it to aquaculture farmers.
Some of the areas listed are more of the best flats areas for sight casting to species like Golden Trevally and Queen Fish in the region and will create navigational problems.
MacNamara the local Minister for Innovation and Sustainability and Climate Change![who are they trying to fool] that claimed the Marine Park was his best work yet when he released the plans for the Park.
He fully supports the continued destruction of this Marine Park through over fishing and the Traverston Dam aka Travesty Dam locally and now more commercial activity in a Marine Park through aquaculture.
Yet this Minister failed to turn up at any community consultation meetings to front the people he supposedly represents to discuss the Marine Park!!! pretty gutless I think!!.
I wonder if he will turn up at the public meeting proposed for the 3rd of September 7pm at Kondari resort this year in Hervey Bay his electorate.

It's amazing how fast time goes!! it seems like only a few months ago I was setting up the business but it's now just past 5 years and there has been many miles of water pass under the hulls of my boats in both the Sweetwater and Saltwater over that time.
