Wide Bay Water approved access to the stillage pond so it could be electro fished to get some of the fish back into the lake.
There was 20 barra liberated back into Lenthalls and 2 further down stream and hopefully they will stay in there for anglers to catch,A net was strung across the where the weeds met the deeper water to try and prevent the fish in the shallows to be electro fished heading for the deeper water.
It wasn't an easy operation getting the fish from below the wall all the way back to the boat ramp for release but 20 is better than none.
Once the fish were shocked it was a matter of scooping them up in a net then transferring them to another to be carried up the hill to awaiting tanks for transport.
Hopefully in the near future there will be a chanel dug through the shallow area locking the fish in there to allow the fish that do go over the wall to swim down stream and stop them from dieing a slow death.
This is the second time we have done a rescue down there but this time it was made a bit more difficult due to the increased size of the fish.
It is illegal to fish below the spillway and catching these fish on lures and releasing them again is only stressing them out more creating more to die.
Thanks to Wide Bay Water for organising the consultant to attend and electro fish the area in question and the other guys in the stocking group for putting in the effort and time to rescue some of the fish.
