I started him out on Snapper on plastics but the sharks were getting all the bigger fish before they could be landed for the camera so after having a number of good solid fish eaten we moved on in search of Long Tail Tuna.
He landed his first on a soft plastic, the longies just love the Longtail lollies with Bubble gum[pink] Blue glimmer and Texas red are all very good colours but I have caught them and Mac Tuna on most of the colours in the range.
We got some good footage of some nice Long Tails for the show off some bait balls, the fish were not feeding hard and busting up as they so often do so it was just a matter of casting at the bait ball and letting the Snapback sink under them then start a slow hop and stop retrieve.
Gary has been building and fixing fishing rods from a young age and as caught plenty of Longies in the past but they have been while spinning metal lures and he was impressed with the way the Snapbacks work on these great fish.
You can check out his rods at http://www.australianrodmanufacturers.com.au/
Guys it was a pleasure having you on board for the shoot and hopefully we can highlight some of the other spectacular Hervey Bay species in the future in both Salt and Fresh water.
