I fished him on his first day in the fresh where he caught some nice Bass, the Barra were playing tough to land with 4 good surface strikes but all failed to get a good solid hookup,on Robs last visit there were 3 from 4 hookups landed but that's Barra fishing.
Day 2 and with a major low pressure system moving down the Queensland Coast I said the Barra fishing would be tough so he decided to fish the salt water for the first time with me.
Robs first Long Tail what a way to start.
They were liking all colours and sizes in the poppers
He had a great day catching and releasing 10 Long Tail Tuna on surface poppers and a few on Snapback 5 inch Jerk Shads but with the surface action running hot he stuck with the poppers.
The Pro Rigging Kit Popper I did back in the early 90's still catch plenty of fish.
Some of the visual and explosive hookups on the poppers was awesome to watch!Rob had a great time as this was the first time he had fished for tuna and his first saltwater fish on poppers.
Rob hooked up and the longies just kept feeding only 30-40 ft from the boat
Most of the time the smaller boat saves the day for anglers in the fresh water due to strong winds and not being able to get out on the bay but on this occasion it was the opposite that worked in Robs favour.
Operating the 2 boats gives anglers the choice to fish in both fresh and salt water on different days and experience the best of both worlds here in Hervey Bay and not have to fish in conditions that are not favourable.
Rob once again it was great guiding you onto some nice fish and watching you catch those Long Tails on the surface lures.
