It didn't take long for Andy to get hooked up in the morning after a good barra boofed Jacks surface frog from around a weed bed I had him casting to , Andy dropped the suspending shad in the same area and came up tight on his first barra.
The fish went 99cm on the Truth mat and Andy was pretty happy with the start to the day and not long after landed another fish slightly smaller.
It just wasn't Jacks day, he lost another big fish a couple of hours later that smashed him on the opposite side of a couple of trees that Andy had just had a hit from.
The guys went on to miss a few other fish for the day but also learnt a lot about the Barra the lake and the places to fish in it
Then it was Tol's turn, he owns Mossops Tackle shop in Brisbane and has had a few unsuccessful trips to Monduran Dam and was keen to boat a fish from the dam.
He ended up with a good barra over a meter for his first on a soft plastic and there were a couple of smaller barra caught on the ever reliable Lively Lures Arafura Barra in the 130 and the new Shallow.
The fishing wasn't as good as it can be in the dam but that's Barra fishing!!! they can be a fickle fish at times and eat anything at others but knowing how, where and when can certainly turn fish less trips into successful ones.
