Eric was using his very popular S10 spin rod and managed to catch some nice trevally and a couple of sharks on Snapback plastics rigged on TT jig heads.
After I guided him onto some fish in the deeper water I took him onto the flats to show him some cruising Golden Trevally in the clear shallow waters around the bay.
He got to see plenty of Goldens on the flats but sadly they wouldn't eat the soft plastics he was casting.
I find when they are in these moods they fall for a well prestented clouser minnow or simular fly cast off my Innovator Velocity 10wt with a Scientific Angler Striped Bass intermediate line.
It's great fun sight casting to these magnificent fish [something all fly and lure fisherpersons should try to experience at some stage] in gin clear water and watching them swim up to the the fly or plastic and suck it in.
It's just a shame the Queensland State Governments Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries and the Dept of Tourism doesn't realise that Whales aren't the only marine creatures that wave their tails around for tourists here in Hervey Bay.
Eric it was great to have you on board for the morning and showing you the Goldens that Hervey Bay is famous for.
