We received some much needed rain to top up the Dam which was getting down to around 50%.
This is a extract from an email I received from the Executive Manager of Operations for Lenthalls Dam on the current situation.
You will be pleased to know that the dam is at 77% as of this morning, with both weirs at 100%. That means we gained over 5,300Ml since the rains, with a total of 147 mm at Muscat Flat and 110 mm at Lenthall Dam. Imagine where we would be if we received the 950 mm that Rainbow Beach received in the same time.
Phil.
The new gate system fitted to the existing wall to increase the surface area of the dams water supply are now sitting in water and were only last week high and dry.
When I checked the back area of the dam this afternoon there was still water flowing into the dam so it should gain a bit further before the flow stops completely.
This is great news for the local community and the fish, along with the Fraser Coast Fish Stocking Association and anglers that visit the dam.
The water is slightly discoloured as expected but when it settles the fishing should really start to fire up.
The current restrictions are still in place at the dam, 6hp maximum and gates are opened from 6am to 4pm with no access to the dam other than via the front gates, I will report any changes to the current rules as soon as they happen.
Paul
