The State Government EPA Department are yet to release the coordinates for the boundaries and according to the local paper they will not be doing so until the commencement date.

Typical of this Government to keep us in the dark until the last minute,it would have been to sensible to give us all a few weeks to get familiarized with the areas and load the coordinates into our plotting systems for those that have them.

Writing to the Government

I have written letters to the Premier, the Environment Minister the Minister for Fisheries and DPI, EPA as well as the local MP McNamara via the local newspaper, who by the way claimed this to be his best work yet.
Asking for some scientific evidence as to why the Green Zones are where they are, I also attended a meeting organized by Sunfish with the EPA officers and Marine Parks Rangers.
And none of the above have been able to answer any of the questions asked with any reasonable, logical answers with any scientific evidence.

I believe the government directed staff to draft a plan that did NOT EFFECT COMMERCIAL FISHING.
For the State government to create a conservation zone then allow all commercial netters from here and the ones displaced from the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and anywhere else in Queensland to continue without some reduction just defies logic.

But then so does Damming the Mary River at Traverston Crossing that will also destroy the Magnificent Mary River and Great Sandy Straits in the long run.

With recreational fishing worth around $140 million per year to this region it is hard to understand the logic of this Government.
We do need commercial fisheries but to overload this area then restrict the very people that spend there money here on tourism just doesn't make sense.

Its my belief that the Beattie Government is just waiting for the commercial fisho's to go broke then he wont have to buy them out with a fair compensation package like his Government should be doing.

We as fisherpersons need to all join forces with groups like SUNFISH to show the government that we are here and we vote and will not stand for the crap it's dealing out to us.

At the next election show Beattie we've had enough of him stuffing our Hospitals, Roads, Rivers and Fisheries by voting for the Fishing Party Queensland.

Moreton Bay Marine Park is next on Beatties hit list and he will be doing whatever it takes to get the Greens preferences so he wins the next state election.
Enough is Enough

Dam the Beattie government not our Rivers
